William Boulding, then aged 67, saved two young girls from serious injury or death on 10 December 1981. As the girls were crossing a street on their way to school, Mr. Boulding, the School Crossing Guard, noticed a car, apparently out of control, careening towards the intersection. Realizing the danger he turned to the children and pushed them out of the vehicle's path. Unfortunately he sustained multiple minor injuries upon impact, but the children were unhurt.
