One the evening of June 1, 1987 in Longueuil, Quebec, the intervention of Mr. Georges Baillargeon saved the lives of a mother and her child. The mother, carrying her child, was walking toward her home when a suspicious-looking individual approached and threatened her. The young woman immediately began to run away from the man, who started chasing her. When he caught up with her, he began to hit her violently, then pushed her roughly into a hedge. With a knife in his hand, the man was about to stab his victim when Mr. Baillargeon intervened. He threw himself on the attacker to loosen his grip and held him down until the police arrived.
