On January 18, 1992, Mr. Lauzon lost his life during an attempted armed robbery in Montreal, Quebec. Mr. Lauzon was inside a convenience store when a thief carrying a gun and a knife entered and ordered the cashier, the owner and Mr. Lauzon to go to the back of the store. Refusing to obey, Mr. Lauzon headed toward the gunman, who attempted to stab him. During the fight, two shots were fired and Mr. Lauzon was killed.
