On May 9, 1992, Mr. Doyle rescued a woman caught in an out-of-control vehicle in Whitby, Ontario. After a traffic accident at an intersection, the victim's car would not stop and began spinning in a circle. Mr. Doyle saw the driver slumped over and, despite the danger of being hit by the moving vehicle, had his brother drive his truck into the circle. Jumping out of the truck, he ran alongside the runaway car and, choosing his moment carefully, flung himself partially through the open driver's window. Mr. Doyle was able to reach the gearshift and bring the car to a halt before anyone else was injured.
