On March 11, 1992, near the village of St-Fulgence, Quebec, Mr. Bourget saved a man from a tractor which was sinking through the ice of the Saguenay River. While the man was removing his ice fishing hut, Mr. Bourget heard the ice crack under the weight of the tractor and saw the vehicle going down with the terrified man inside. Mr. Bourget ran to find a hammer and, edging toward the thin ice, threw the tool, shattering the window. He then crawled closer on the ice, leaned into the tractor cab, succeeded in grabbing the man and dragged him from the vehicle onto firm ice.
