Medal of Bravery
On February 27, 1993, then Sgt. MacTaggart and MCpl. Boudreau rescued two victims from the burning wreckage of their crashed helicopter in the remote province of Stung Treng in Northern Cambodia. Upon approaching the runway, while on a resupply mission, the helicopter suddenly fell from the sky, turned on its side and caught fire. Although injured, WO. MacTaggart and MCpl. Boudreau helped evacuate the badly wounded passengers. MCpl. Boudreau escaped through the cockpit, taking with her the injured and unconscious co-pilot. WO. MacTaggart helped free a UN soldier trapped under some cargo, then was the last to escape from the helicopter through the broken cockpit window. Both women helped carry victims to a safe distance away from the wreckage which was completely destroyed by the explosion of the fuel cargo. The two women continued to administer first aid until medical help arrived.
