Governor General to Mark the Official Opening of
the 14th World Scout Moot Canada 2013
OTTAWA—His Excellency the Right Honourable David Johnston, Governor General of Canada, will officially open the 14th World Scout Moot Canada 2013, organized by L’Association des scouts du Canada, during a ceremony held on Thursday, August 8, 2013, at 8:30 a.m., on Parliament Hill.
As chef scout of L’Association des scouts du Canada and patron scout of Scouts Canada, the Governor General will address more than 2 000 scouts representing 90 countries about the importance of serving their communities, as well as of working together to help build a smarter, more caring world.
About the 14th World Scout Moot Canada 2013
The 14th World Scout Moot Canada 2013 is an official education event of the World Organization of Scout Movements, specifically designed for young adults between 18 to 25 years of age. This year’s Moot will take place for the first time in Canada, from August 8 to 18, 2013. Organized by L’Association des Scouts du Canada, this gathering will bring together more than 2 500 young adults from around the world. During their time in Canada, the scouts will participate in various conferences, workshops and outdoor activities primarily held in the municipality of Low, Quebec, but they will also visit Ottawa-Gatineau, Montréal, the City of Québec and Toronto.
