Winter Celebration

Saturday, January 28, 2017 - 12:30 p.m. to 4 p.m.
All activities are free of charge.

Their Excellencies are smiling, arm and arm, next to Rideau Hall’s historic skating rink. Participants to Winter Celebration try out giant skis. At the tip of one of the skis, a small Canadian flag is floating.

Celebrate

Come to Rideau Hall with your family to enjoy fun winter sports and traditions such as:

  • Skating
  • Snowshoeing
  • Cross-country skiing

Skate

New for Canada’s 150th birthday, lace up your skates in the refurbished Winter Pavilion and skate on Rideau Hall’s historic outdoor rink, now refrigerated.

Tour

Visit the ceremonial rooms where the governor general fulfils official duties, welcomes dignitaries and honours Canadians.

Donate

Make it a giving moment by bringing non-perishable food items for the Ottawa Food Bank and Moisson Outaouais or winter clothing for the Snowsuit Fund.

Connect

You are encouraged to post your photos of the day’s activities to social media by using the hashtag #RHPhoto.

Access and Parking

Due to construction work being done on Rideau Hall’s front facade, visitors who wish to access the skating rink must enter the grounds through Princess Gate. All other activities can be accessed via the Mackay and Thomas gates.

Free parking will be available on the streets in the surrounding neighbourhood. Limited parking for mobility-impaired guests will be available on the Rideau Hall grounds via Princess Gate.
