Governor General to Undertake Official Visit
to Saskatchewan

OTTAWA—Their Excellencies the Right Honourable David Johnston, Governor General of Canada, and Mrs. Sharon Johnston will undertake an official visit to Saskatchewan from September 11 to 13, 2011

“Sharon and I are pleased to visit the province of Saskatchewan, known for its rich First Nations and Métis cultural heritages, and as a land where many immigrants found refuge to build a new life of hope and prosperity,” said His Excellency. “Our official duties and travels within the province will allow us to engage with First Nations peoples and Hutterian Brethren of Lajord; to honour outstanding Saskatchewanians for their volunteer work; and to join the Francophone community in their celebrations of the centennial of the Association communautaire fransaskoise in Gravelbourg.”

Their Excellencies will kick off their visit in Gravelbourg, where they will attend celebrations marking the 100th Anniversary of the Association communautaire fransaskoise in Gravelbourg.
