“My wife Sharon and I are genuinely looking forward to be embarking on this international visit.” said the Right Honourable David Johnston. “Going to Kuwait and Qatar will provide us with the opportunity to highlight the valued partnerships, to engage an emerging generation of students and researchers, and to strengthen our relationships with both countries.”
Their Excellencies will first travel to the State of Kuwait where they will have the pleasure of representing Canada during the national celebrations marking Kuwait's 50th Independence Day anniversary and the 20th Liberation Day anniversary, and the Fifth anniversary of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah's ascension to power.
Their Excellencies will then travel to the State of Qatar where they will meet with His Highness Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani, the Emir of the State of Qatar. The objective of the visit to Qatar is to demonstrate Canada’s friendship and willingness to assist the country in its efforts to promote higher education. It will also be an opportunity to share thoughts, experiences and common values of both countries in education and health care.
