Governor General to present History Awards at the Citadelle of Québec

Ottawa, Ontario—Her Excellency the Right Honourable Mary Simon, Governor General of Canada, will present Canada’s top history honours to outstanding Canadians during a ceremony taking place at the historic Residence of the Governor General at the Citadelle of Québec.

The Governor General’s History Awards celebrates the achievements of history teachers, scholars, authors, community groups, and museums from across Canada who share a passion for history and for making a difference in their communities.

Location: the Residence of the Governor General at the Citadelle of Québec

The Governor General’s History Awards, which are presented in partnership with Canada’s History Society, recognize recipients’ efforts to further an interest in Canadian history and heritage, and to honour exceptional achievements. The awards recognize excellence in five categories: Community Programming, Museums, Popular Media, Scholarly Research, and Teaching.

The historic Citadelle of Québec is an inhabited fortress encompassing over 300 years of Canadian history. This National Historic Site, which overlooks the St. Lawrence River, includes the Musée Royal 22e Régiment.
