Her Excellency Sharon Johnston to Participate in
a Friendly “Bake-Off” at the Boys and Girls Club of Ottawa

OTTAWA—Her Excellency Sharon Johnston will put on her apron, roll up her sleeves and get to work in the kitchen with youth from the Boys and Girls Club of Ottawa (BGCO) on Tuesday, August 22, 2017, at 4 p.m.

Her Excellency will bake cinnamon buns with youth between the ages of 6 and 18 enrolled in various BGCO programs. She will then undertake a tour of the facility to engage with members and to learn more about the organization’s four pillars of programming: education, physical activity and healthy lifestyle, leadership and social skills, and creative arts.

About the Boys and Girls Club of Ottawa
BGCO has served the Ottawa community since 1923 by reaching out to 4 500 children and youth each year through after-school, weekend and summer programs that build self-esteem and help to develop stronger social skills. It provides a safe, supportive place where children and youth can experience new opportunities, overcome barriers, build positive relationships and develop confidence and skills for life. Media representatives are invited to attend the photo opportunity of the baking session at 4:05 p.m. and are asked to confirm their attendance in advance with the Boys and Girls Club due to limited spaces.
