Governor General to Visit the Canadian Grenadier Guards and the Fusiliers Mont-Royal in Montréal 

OTTAWA—Her Excellency the Right Honourable Michaëlle Jean, Governor General and Commander-in-Chief of Canada, will meet the members of the Canadian Grenadier Guards and the Fusiliers Mont-Royal during a visit to Montréal, on Saturday, May 15, 2010.

Visit to Canadian Grenadier Guards
As colonel of the regiment, Her Excellency will underline the 150th anniversary of the foundation of Canada’s oldest infantry regiment. She will conduct the inspection of the quarter guard, visit the regiment’s museum and deliver a speech to its members.

Visit to Fusiliers Mont-Royal
The Governor General will meet with members of the Fusiliers Mont-Royal, the oldest Francophone regiment in Montréal. Upon her arrival at the armoury, she will inspect the guard of honour. She will deliver a speech and unveil a commemorative plaque in honour of the centennial of the armoury, which from now on will be named the Manège militaire des Fusiliers Mont-Royal.
