At the request of the Right Honourable Justin Trudeau, Prime Minister of Canada, Her Excellency the Right Honourable Julie Payette, Governor General of Canada, attended the Olympic Winter Games PyeongChang 2018, in the Republic of Korea.

Upon her arrival in Seoul, the Governor General met with the President of the Republic of Korea at the Blue House.
Her Excellency attended Team Canada’s flag raising ceremony and participated in the ribbon-cutting ceremony marking the official opening of Canada Olympic House.

Her Excellency attended preliminary sporting events at different venues - including the Curling Mixed Double preliminary match between Canada and Norway. The Governor General also attended a dinner hosted by Mr. Thomas Bach, President of the International Olympic Committee (IOC).

Throughout the day, Her Excellency attended preliminary sporting events at different venues. In the evening, the Governor General attended the Opening Ceremony of the XXIII Olympic Winter Games.
