100th Anniversary Battle of Passchendaele

Her Excellency marked the 100th anniversary of the Battle of Passchendaele during an event at the Canadian War Museum, in Ottawa.

The Battle of Passchendaele took place in Belgium in the summer and fall of 1917. Some 100,000 members of the Canadian Corps joined the fighting there in October and fought valiantly to bring an end to this brutal and bloody battle. Thousands of Canadians lost their lives or were wounded in the effort.
