National Science and Innovation Gala

May 15, 2017

Governor General to deliver remarks at the National Science and Innovation Gala

OTTAWA—His Excellency the Right Honourable David Johnston, Governor General of Canada, will deliver remarks at the first annual National Science and Innovation Gala, hosted by the Canada Science and Technology Museums Corporation, at the Canada Aviation and Space Museum in Ottawa, on Wednesday, May 17, 2017, at 7 p.m.

The Gala will also be host to the first-ever STEAM Horizon Awards, honouring the achievements of young Canadian innovators in the fields of science, technology, engineering, arts and math (STEAM). For more information, visit https://steamhorizonawards.ca/.

For this year’s celebration, the Canada Aviation and Space Museum will be transformed into a steampunk laboratory. Guests will travel back in time to the 19th-century steam era as they experience a mashup of Victorian fashion, steam-powered technology and futuristic innovation.

The Governor General is the patron of the Canada Science and Technology Museums Corporations.
