The Duke of Edinburgh’s Gold Award of Achievement

October 7, 2016

Governor General to Present The Duke of Edinburgh’s
Gold Award of Achievement

OTTAWA—His Excellency the Right Honourable David Johnston, Governor General of Canada, will present The Duke of Edinburgh’s Gold Award to more than 60 young people from across Canada. The presentation will take place at Lower Canada College, 4090 Royal Avenue in Montréal, on Tuesday, October 11, 2016, at 1:45 p.m.

“Since the beginning of my mandate in 2010, I’ve had the privilege of meeting hundreds of young people from across Canada who have received The Duke of Edinburgh’s Gold Award of Achievement,” said the Governor General. “Hearing about their achievements reminds me that a smarter, more caring nation is achieved through dedication and hard work.”

The Duke of Edinburgh International Award’s three levels—Bronze, Silver and Gold— encourage youth between the ages of 14 and 24 to pursue activities in four areas: community service, physical recreation, skills development and outdoor exploration. Gold-level participants also complete a residential project. For more information, visit
