Governor General to Present The Duke of Edinburgh’s
Gold Award of Achievement
OTTAWA—His Excellency the Right Honourable David Johnston, Governor General of Canada, will present The Duke of Edinburgh’s Gold Award to more than 50 young people from across Canada. The presentation will take place at Ashbury College, 362 Mariposa Avenue, in Ottawa on Tuesday, August 30, 2016, at 4 p.m.
“I am always impressed by the dedication and personal accomplishments of the young women and men who are presented with The Duke of Edinburgh’s Gold Award of Achievement,” said the Governor General. “This award inspires our youth to reach higher and dream bigger, and to embark upon a lifelong journey of community service, skills development, physical fitness, exploration and adventure.”
The Duke of Edinburgh International Award’s three levels—Bronze, Silver and Gold—encourage youth between the ages of 14 and 24 to pursue activities in four areas: community service, physical fitness, skills development and outdoor exploration. Gold level participants also complete a residential project. For more information, please visit www.dukeofed.org.
