The 90th Birthday of Her Majesty The Queen in London

OTTAWATheir Excellencies the Right Honourable David Johnston, Governor General of Canada, and Mrs. Sharon Johnston will travel to London, England, from June 9 to 11, 2016, to take part in the celebrations marking the 90th birthday of Her Majesty The Queen. 

“On behalf of all Canadians, Sharon and I are honoured to celebrate the 90th birthday of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, who is renowned for her unwavering dedication to the Canadian Crown, for her ability to connect with the people she meets, and for her support of charitable and compassionate causes,” said the Governor General. “It is this inherent goodness of our Queen that inspires so much admiration and the reason for which we are delighted to participate in this important celebration of our Sovereign.”

National Service of Thanksgiving to Mark the 90th Birthday of Her Majesty The Queen
Their Excellencies will attend the National Service of Thanksgiving in the presence of Her Majesty The Queen and other members of The Royal Family to mark the 90th birthday of Her Majesty The Queen at St. Paul’s Cathedral.

Luncheon with Her Majesty The Queen
Their Excellencies will attend a luncheon hosted by Her Majesty The Queen in the presence of the governors general of Commonwealth realms.

Saturday, June 11

Trooping the Colour: The Queen’s Birthday Parade
Their Excellencies will participate in the Ceremony of Trooping the Colour, also known as the Queen’s Birthday Parade, to celebrate the Sovereign’s birthday. 

The Queen’s Birthday Parade is held in June of each year to mark the Sovereign’s birthday. More than 1 400 officers and troops, with approximately 400 musicians from the Massed Bands of the Household Division, participate. One foot guard regiment is selected each year to troop their colour at the Birthday Parade. This year, the Coldstream Guards Colour will be trooped.
