Governor General to Speak at the Symposium
in Honour of the 250th Anniversary of the Royal Proclamation
OTTAWA—His Excellency the Right Honourable David Johnston, Governor General of Canada, will deliver the opening address at the Creating Canada: from the Royal Proclamation of 1763 to Modern Treaties symposium on Monday, October 7, 2013. This event, hosted by the Land Claims Agreements Coalition, will be held at the Canadian Museum of Civilization, in Gatineau, Quebec.
At 9 a.m., His Excellency will speak on the Royal Proclamation’s historic and ongoing significance between Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal Canadians and, in particular, on the way in which its principles of peace, fairness and respect point the way forward for Canada.
