Governor General to Unveil Canada Post Stamps in Commemoration of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II’s Diamond Jubilee
OTTAWA—His Excellency the Right Honourable David Johnston, Governor General of Canada, along with the Honourable Marjory LeBreton, Leader of the Government in the Senate, and Mr. Deepak Chopra, President and Chief Executive Officer of Canada Post, will unveil Canada’s postal tribute in celebration of the 60th anniversary of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II’s accession to the Throne. The event will take place at the Canadian Postal Museum, located at the Canadian Museum of Civilization in Gatineau, Quebec, on Monday, January 16, 2012, at 10 a.m.
Following the unveiling of the commemorative stamps, the Governor General, along with the Ms. LeBreton and Mr. Chopra, will be joined by 50 third grade students from two Ottawa-Gatineau area schools to take part in a scavenger hunt inside the Canadian Postal Museum to learn more about the history and legacy of Canada’s postal system.
