OTTAWA—On the occasion of the State visits to Ukraine and the Kingdom of Norway, Their Excellencies the Right Honourable Michaëlle Jean, Governor General of Canada, and Jean-Daniel Lafond will host a cultural evening at Rideau Hall on April 15, 2009, at 7 p.m.
To showcase the importance of Canada’s relationship with Ukraine and Norway, the Governor General, Mr. Robert Peck, Chief of Protocol of Canada, and Their Excellencies Ihor Ostash and Tor B Naess, ambassadors of Ukraine and the Kingdom of Norway respectively, will speak during this event. The ambassadors will also each introduce a performance that represents their country. The performances will feature Kostyantyn Voynov and Anna Nesvitaylo (Ukraine) from the Atlantic Ballet Theatre of Canada, pianist Serhiy Salov (Ukraine) and jazz saxophonist Frøy Aagre (Norway) accompanied by pianist Parker Shper.
The State visit to Ukraine will take place from April 23 to 26, 2009. The State visit to the Kingdom of Norway will take place from April 28 to April 30, 2009. The public can follow both State visits by reading speeches and viewing photos and videos available at www.gg.ca.
