She is recognized as a world authority on the ethical aspects of genetics, genomics and biotechnology. A professor and researcher in the Université de Montréal's Faculty of Law, she has been tireless in her promotion of Canadian expertise in this field at the international level. By establishing important networks of cooperation, she has worked to bring together scientists, ethicists and jurists. Co-founder of the International Institute of Research in Ethics and Biomedicine, she has also played an influential role on various committees, particularly as president of the Canadian Bioethics Society and the International Committee of the Human Genome Organization.
