Their Excellencies the Right Honourable David Johnston, Governor General of Canada, and Mrs. Sharon Johnston attended the opening ceremony of the 29th Annual CHEO Teddy Bears' Picnic held at Rideau Hall on June 23, 2012. In the presence of Suzanne Pinel from the CHEO Foundation and Max Keeping, Their Excellencies went on stage to sing the "Teddy Bear" song with some of their grand children.
Olympians like Alexandre Bilodeau were on site to share how their passion for sports and physical activity has allowed them to live the Olympic dream.
Their Excellencies then brought their stuffed animal to the B*A*S*H tent—Bear Ambulatory Surgical Hospital— for a check-up. They were joined by Suzanne Pinel and Alexandre Bilodeau
The Honourable Bal Gosal, Minister of State (Sport), also attend the event.
His Excellency announced to crowds gathered that he will represent Canada at the 2012 Olympic Games in London.
