Working Visit to Barbados - Day 1

Upon their arrival in Bridgetown, Their Excellencies were welcomed by Ms. Ruth Archibald, High Commissioner of Canada, and Mr. Philip St. Hill, Chief of Protocol of the Government of Barbados.
Their Excellencies and the Canadian delegation toured the Bellairs Research Institute, a teaching and research facility connected to McGill University. The Governor General is seen here accompanied by Frank McConney, Chairman of the Board of the institute, and Ms. Susan Mahon, Director of Bellairs Research Institute of McGill University. .
Bellairs Research Institute maintains an open-door policy to all researchers with academic interests in tropical terrestrial and marine environments. Frank McConney, Chairman of the Board of the institute, delivered welcoming remarks to Their Excellencies and the delegation.
Research at Bellairs has broadened from primarily marine science to a wide spectrum of disciplines in the natural and social sciences, such as geology, geography, archaeology, climatology, biology, ecology, horticulture, agriculture, sustainability and water management. Dr. Trevor Carmichael, member of the Board of Directors, delivered remarks.
