Visit to Mexico - Day 3

Back to Photo Gallery
During their last day in Mexico, Their Excellencies and the delegation went to Zocalo, the main square of Mexico.
Their Excellencies and the delegation saw the Metropolitain Cathedral, the largest church in Latin America and home to numerous art treasures.
The group also visited the ruins of the Templo Mayor, the main sacred precinct of the Aztec settlement of Tenochtitlan (now called Mexico City) that was demolished by the Spaniards in 1519.
Archeologists found the location of the Templo Mayor in the first half of the 20th century.
It was a great occasion to gather all the delegates for a photo. The delegation of Canadian government and private sector leaders in the fields of business, education, and social justice and development will share their experiences and knowledge with their counterparts and play an active role in highlighting Canada’s involvement in the countries visited.
Their Excellencies and the delegation also visited the Templo Mayor Museum.
Her Excellency Sharon Johnston had the chance to visit the Museum of Women, in Mexico City. She was welcomed by Dr. Patricia Galeana, Executive Director of the museum.
During the visit, Her Excellency insisted on having all the women accompanying her gather for a photo.
The Museum of Women openend its doors on March 8, 2011, International Women's Day, with the goal of supporting an emerging culture of equality and respect for the rights of women in Mexico. Her Excellency is seen here with Dr. Patricia Galeana, Executive Director of the museum.
Their Excellencies arrived in Lima, Peru, where they are undertaking an official visit from December 2 to 5.
