Summer 2017 at the Citadelle

June 22, 2017

Enjoy Free Guided Tours All Summer at the
Residence of the Governor General at the Citadelle of Québec

QUÉBEC—Starting June 24, discover the governor general’s second official residence at the Citadelle of Québec, with guided tours offered daily, free of charge, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., until September 4. No reservation is required.

Our guides are looking forward to greeting visitors and helping them discover the history, architecture and collections of this magnificent residence located within the Citadelle of Québec, atop Cape Diamant. Visitors will also explore the State rooms, where the Governor General fulfills his official duties, welcomes dignitaries and honours Canadians.

The furnishings and works of art found throughout the residence pay tribute to Canadian artists and enrich the value of the residence’s heritage. The marriage of period furniture and contemporary artwork creates a décor that reflects the country’s history and its various artistic and cultural traditions.

In September and October, the residence will be open to the public on Saturdays and Sundays, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

VIEWING LOCATION FOR THE GRANDS FEUX LOTO-QUÉBEC FIREWORKS SHOW
Selected Wednesdays (2, 9, 16 and 23) and Saturdays (12 and 19) in August – as of 8:30 p.m.
The public is invited to the city’s most beautiful terrace to watch the Grands Feux Loto-Québec fireworks show, free of charge. Overlooking the St. Lawrence River, the governor general’s residence offers an excellent vantage point from which to enjoy this dazzling show.

Beginning July 4, members of the public will be able to reserve a place using an online form. Space is limited and will be allocated as forms are received (first-come, first-served basis.) Visitors will be able to access the site on these evenings beginning at 8:30 p.m. to allow time to tour the residence.

This activity is presented in collaboration with the Royal 22e Régiment, Public Services and Procurement Canada and the Grands Feux Loto-Québec.
