of Vimy Ridge Commemorative Stamps

OTTAWA—Their Excellencies the Right Honourable David Johnston, Governor General of Canada, and Mrs. Sharon Johnston will attend the unveiling of Canadian and French commemorative stamps to mark the 100th anniversary of the Battle of Vimy Ridge. The ceremony, presented in partnership with the Vimy Foundation, will take place at the Embassy of France in Canada, in Ottawa, on Wednesday, March 22, 2017, at 6:30 p.m.

The Governor General will deliver remarks on this occasion and will participate in the unveiling of the Canadian stamp joined by Mr. Deepak Chopra, President and CEO of Canada Post. The French stamp will be unveiled simultaneously by His Excellency Nicolas Chapuis, Ambassador of France to Canada, and Mr. Benoît Georges, representative of La Poste for the Americas. Both stamps were designed to honour the nearly 3 600 Canadian soldiers who were killed in action and the more than 7 000 who were wounded during the Battle of Vimy Ridge.
