Discover our 2015–2016 School Program

Back-to-school is just around the corner! As you plan your upcoming school year, consider visiting one of the two official residences of the governor general: Rideau Hall in Ottawa or the Citadelle of Québec. The educational tours that we provide will help your students learn more about our history and political system. They will learn that the governor general of Canada lives and works in buildings steeped in over 175 years of history; that the governor general’s role dates back to New France; and that this role is a vital part of our parliamentary democracy.

As The Queen’s representative in Canada, the governor general must fulfill certain legislative and executive responsibilities in Parliament, as well as many other responsibilities pertaining to diplomacy, unity, excellence, heraldry and the Canadian Armed Forces.

Don’t miss this opportunity to learn more about these themes while exploring a unique historic site! Our program is designed for students from kindergarten right up to adult learners: choose the tour or activity that best fits with your group. All of our activities are free.
