Governor General to attend the RCMP Canadian Sunset Ceremonies

OTTAWA — Their Excellencies the Right Honourable David Johnston, Governor General of Canada, and Mrs. Sharon Johnston will attend the annual Canadian Sunset Ceremonies featuring the Royal Canadian Mounted Police Musical Ride, at the RCMP stables of the Canadian Police College, in Ottawa, on June 22, 2011, at 7:30 p.m.

The Governor General will tour the grounds accompanied by Deputy Commissioner Steve Graham, Deputy Commissioner East, and attend the Musical Ride and Sunset Ceremony.

About the Canadian Sunset Ceremonies

Since 1988, the Canadian Sunset Ceremonies are an annual event, offering the RCMP a way of thanking the community for its support, as well as means of providing the public with an opportunity to see the Musical Ride. The 2011 theme is “Celebrating Milestones in the Policing Community.” For more information about the Canadian Sunset Ceremonies, please visit
