Their Excellencies to welcome Their Royal Highnesses The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall at Rideau Hall

OTTAWA—Their Excellencies the Right Honourable Michaëlle Jean, Governor General of Canada, and Mr. Jean-Daniel Lafond will welcome Their Royal Highnesses The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall upon their arrival in Newfoundland and Labrador, and then at Rideau Hall, in Ottawa, on the occasion of Their Royal Highnesses’ official visit to Canada, which will take place from November 2 to 12, 2009.

During their stay in Canada’s capital region, Their Royal Highnesses will reside at Rideau Hall.

 Monday, November 2

5:15 p.m.
Arrival Ceremony for Their Royal Highnesses
Mile One Centre, St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador
Their Excellencies will welcome Their Royal Highnesses upon their arrival in Canada during a ceremony at Mile One Centre in St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador.

Tuesday, November 10

Official Meeting
Rideau Hall, 1, Sussex Drive, Ottawa, Ontario
During the meeting, Their Royal Highnesses will discuss their visit to Canada with Their Excellencies.

 Wednesday, November 11

11 a.m.
National Remembrance Day Ceremony
National War Memorial, Ottawa, Ontario
Their Excellencies and Their Royal Highnesses will attend the National Remembrance Day Ceremony at the National War Memorial in Ottawa.

Official Dinner
Rideau Hall, 1 Sussex Drive, Ottawa, Ontario
Their Excellencies will host a dinner in honour of Their Royal Highnesses’ visit.

 Thursday, November 12

Tree Planting Ceremony
Rideau Hall, 1, Sussex Drive, Ottawa, Ontario
Their Royal Highnesses will participate in the planting of an oak tree during a ceremony on the grounds of Rideau Hall. The tradition of planting a tree during Royal or State visits began with Earl Grey, Governor General of Canada (1904-1911).
